Celebrate Christmas with these Stunning Centrepieces: Log Cakes, Turkeys & more

Updated on 24 December 2020

Mandarin Oriental, Singapore

If you are looking to adorn your celebratory dinner at home with a visual delight that’s also a sweet treat, Mandarin Oriental has that sorted. The rum-infused Nutty Caramel, a crunchy puff pastry topped with hazelnut Pain de Gênes and caramel catalan cream, is designed for those who enjoy rich, nutty flavours.

Santa made his presence felt in the delightful red and white Santa Berry – made up of raspberry sponge, cassis confit and forest berries mousse, this fruity cake has an added hint of earl grey and citrusy yuzu notes.

If you have guests who are clued in to biblical references, they will certainly reach for second helpings of the Star of Bethlehem, featuring a combination of the warm spice notes of nutmeg and the sweetness of chestnut. Coconut, passion fruit and mango inject tropical flair into this dessert.

There is even a Traditional Roasted Christmas Turkey available at Mandarin Oriental for takeaways.

InterContinental Singapore

A main highlight this year is the Piñata Fruit Cake – a nod to InterContinental Singapore’s ‘Christmases Around The World’ theme – a playful rendition of the classic Christmas bake infused with rum and candied fruits, topped with an ornament ball which can be knocked to reveal goodies. Impress your guests with creative bakes such as the Lemon Strawberry Pistachio log cake, an intricate circular log cake comprising lemon mousse, strawberry jelly and pistachio crunch; other log cakes vying for your attention include the Mont Blanc Yule Log, Matcha Kinako Sweet Potato Yule Log and Lemon Strawberry Pistachio Yule Log.

Both the Winter Truffle Roasted Turkey and premium Roasted Grass-fed Beef Sirloin were sold out on the website as this story went live – a resounding indication that these will be seen at many dinner tables this month.

The St. Regis Singapore

Left to Right: Whole Roasted Sea Bass with Provençal Ratatouille, Côte de Boeuf with Roasted Potatoes, Marinated Salmon with Citrus Zest; Whole Roasted Turkey

Replicate the House of Astor experience at home by inviting friends and fam you hold dear for a feast. The St. Regis Singapore went to town with a stellar guestlist of handcrafted sweet and savoury specialties which are perfect as bedazzling centerpieces. We are very much in favour of the Whole Roasted Turkey with Buttered Brussels Sprouts and Truffle Mashed Potato, Marinated Salmon with Citrus Zest, Côte de Boeuf with Roasted Potatoes, Whole Roasted Sea Bass with Provençal Ratatouille and signature Smoked Salmon infused with The St. Regis Singapore Tea Blend.

Left to Right: Chocolate Decadence, Soursop Lychee, Chestnut Pear, Tanariva Raspberry, Dulcey Yuzu

On the sweet front, The St. Regis Singapore team has a  collection of beautifully handcrafted St. Regis Logcakes that would make Caroline Astor brim with pride. Consider the Chocolate Decadence, an alluring bittersweet favourite comprising swathes of chocolate buttercream and Ariaga dark chocolate cream layered between a rich chocolate sponge, speckled with dark chocolate pearls for that added crunch; the fragrant Chestnut Pear featuring pear yuzu crémeux, chestnut crémeux, chestnut bits and chestnut sponge atop a bed of pailletee feuilletine, sheathed beneath a chestnut bavaroise cream is also a strong contender for centrepiece attention on your Kelly Wearstler table.

The Fullerton Hotels

The Fullerton Hotels’ delicious new flavours this year are inspired by the rich diversity of Singaporean cuisine and are poised to be the star at your festive meals at home.

The Roasted Turkey Sapit is marinated with local herbs and spices such as lemongrass, chillies, ginger, cumin and coriander seed for a fiery, uniquely Singaporean twist to the Christmas turkey. On the side, you will find fragrant blue pea flower rice, tangy pineapple relish, emping crackers and sweet chilli soy sauce. Enjoy the turkey with a cool, refreshing Tiger Crystal in hand. Every purchase of a Christmas Turkey Sapit will come with a complimentary Tiger Crystal 4-pack, while stocks last.

Bring home a log cake – or three – from The Fullerton Hotels this month. The Coconut Calamansi features the tangy fruit layered with the rich creaminess of coconut and finished with a gentle shower of coconut shavings; the Mango Sago Pomelo is a refreshing fruity take inspired by the popular local dessert; and Teh Tarik will be remembered for its distinctive flavour of foamy local milk tea.

The finishing touch to your ‘Fullerton at Home’ experience could come in the form of a Salted Caramel Ondeh Ondeh Cruffinttone, a lovely blend of sweet and salty kissed with the familiar flavours of pandan and coconut, layered between buttery pastry for a truly winning combination. Also available as miniature single-serve Cruffinttoncino.

The turkey is complemented with flavoursome vegetable rice and served with housemade dips of piquant Thai-style sauce and scallion sour cream.
